About Matea
Originally from South Dakota, I always dreamed of living near the mountains. In 2016, I made that dream a reality and moved to Boulder, where I began to settle into a new rhythm—hiking, seeing live music, and exploring a way of life that felt both exciting and unfamiliar.
Boulder—and the community at Southern Sun—welcomed me with open arms. Having spent most of my life in the restaurant industry, I thrived in the energy and chaos, and I cherished the deep connections formed with coworkers and customers. It was in that fast-paced environment that my love for people and their stories truly blossomed.
When COVID disrupted everything, it also gave me space—space to slow down, breathe, and appreciate the ease of unstructured days. I discovered a new way of being, one that felt more aligned with who I was becoming. I knew I still wanted to work directly with people, but in a way that offered deeper presence and purpose.
Today, I’m incredibly grateful to be doing what I love. I have the privilege of working with the most supportive, inspiring clients, and I’m constantly moved by their trust and vulnerability. My passion lies in listening—really listening—to each person’s story, and doing all I can to support them in their healing journey.
My practice continues to evolve through ongoing study. CranioSacral therapy, herbalism, and energy work have added unexpected depth to the foundation I built through massage. I love that this work is a lifelong path—and that I get to walk it as a forever student.
